Capturing light, memory, and the spaces in-between

Randonnée du Pointe de la Revellata

This photograph was taken while hiking the Pointe de la Revellata, just outside Calvi, Corsica, on a trail that winds through maquis scrub and granite rock along the coastline before dropping down to this small, hidden cove. I remember how still the water was that day, and how quiet — no one else around, just the sound of wind moving through the brush. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much of my photography is really about searching for moments of stillness, places where I can slow down and just look at something without needing to do anything with it. This cove felt like one of those places. I didn’t take many photographs while I was there; I mostly just sat with it. This image is less about the landscape itself and more about what it felt like to find a quiet place in the middle of a trip that otherwise moved quickly.
